Jack Seale Guardian The chemistry between Lycurgo and Parkes is immediate, her mix of playful forthrightness and fearful vulnerability coiling tightly around his combination of wild rage and growing inner strength. Rated: 4/5 Oct 28, 2022 Full Review Jack Taylor Daily Telegraph (UK) Barton deals with the books’ dense thicket of lore with the same economical story-telling that made the fearsomely ambitious British-Japanese thriller Giri/Haji such a captivating success. Rated: 4/5 Oct 26, 2022 Full Review Archi Sengupta LeisureByte.com The Bastard Son and The Devil Himself is a thrilling ride from start to end that leaves you feeling thrilled, chilled and a bit disgusted! Rated: 4.5/5 Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Charles Hartford But Why Tho? A Geek Community [The Bastard Son And The Devil Himself] showcases just how ugly people can become, as well as reminding us that not every person is as bad as they may seem at first glance. Rated: 9/10 Jan 14, 2023 Full Review Allyson Johnson Pajiba More shows should swing this big because even with the rough edges, it makes for a much more engaging and, frankly, fun watch. Nov 23, 2022 Full Review Linda Codega io9.com Magical and brutal, this Netflix adaptation explores prejudice and family lineage, while presenting a nuanced portrait of teenage sexuality at the same time. Robert M The reason why I like to show is because of the witches and the blood witches and the girl and the guy and their friend Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/25 Full Review Gailie C Was out of things to watch and this popped up, did I fancy it no! But Holy moly I got dragged into like I did stranger things! I've not finished it yet but it won't be long and I will be waiting for another season. Characters are great but at first I couldn't get used to the Soul character because he had been in motherhood where he was a blubbering fool husband, bit strange seeing him in such a dark role. Love the witch theme as I've not seen anything like it, cracking watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/25 Full Review Simon L I was put off by the title but thought I would give it a go. I thought it was aimed at the team market but boy was I wrong. ConsiderBly darker than I thought it would be and a little predictable but truly an excellent watch for me. It could have done with a little less neon, but the acting was great (mostly) and the characters had good depth. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/24 Full Review Amanda M It seems Netflix has begun idolizing Fox and the way they just cancel really good shows for no reason. It has a 94% rating and it's been cancelled smfh. I guess I'll just have to read the books to find out the rest of this intriguing story that I'd have loved to see 2 more seasons of. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/21/24 Full Review Dmytro P I don't know what was worse, the scenario or its realization. I'm really surprised that there are people who liked it. The main characters are not motivated by anything, they act on the principle of "it has to be done to move the plot forward." Half of the things are not substantiated, and are just presented as fact, which already looks quite naive and in most moments just ridiculous. I definitely do not recommend it. The idea is good, but the realization is just horrible Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review K F This was a hard one to rate because I like the acting, the writing the characters and the story. BUT... there is bad sound; below that you have British sound; then there is "Half Bad..." sound! The atrocious sound in this makes it almost unwatchable, even with the subtitles on. It's not just the normal: sound up when talking/sound down with an explosion issue. I had to adjustthe sound every couple minutes because quality AND volume range will change within a single scene from character to charater. And not just volume--QUALITY. One character in a scene sounds normal (but quiet), the person they are speaking to in the same scene sounds as if they are speaking through a tin can muffled by a sock. I know there are a whole slew of technical reasons for why this "advanced" technology sounds so sh***y now; but this is a different level of bad sound. Had it been not so much work to try and hear it, I would have given it 4 stars. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/11/24 Full Review Read all reviews
