Graeme Blundell The Australian Pickett has a complex and ambiguous relationship with society; he is man-in-the-middle between groups that represent the old and the new West. Jun 27, 2023 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Dorman, who was so brilliant in the underrated tar-black spy-thriller series Patriot, remains one of the most quietly compelling actors of his generation. Laurel M Season 1 was manageable but not great, but S2 is insufferable. I don’t get this alleged 100% rating. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/04/25 Full Review Charles B I've been running through many of the series on Paramount and having watched I think all of the Taylor Sheridan offerings I decided to see what Joe Pickett was about. After watching the first 3 episodes I'm done. The flashbacks to Joe's childhood and the "traumas" add little to nothing to the story, are boring and seem to be filler for the main story line. The supporting characters are not compelling. For that matter Joe, obviously the main character isn't compelling. Bad writing plagues this series as well. One of the scenes involves Joe and 2 other law enforcement guys who are on a 30 mile wilderness trail to investigate a murder, One of them blows off a shotgun blast which causes their 3 horses to run back to camp leaving them stranded there. Rather than walk back to the camp, they decide to walk the remainder of the 30 miles!! Of course they can't make it before nightfall so decide to sleep in the open with no equipment, little ammo and a small fire. But they had a flask to keep passing back and forth. And of course Joe has another flashback. I think it was his father pouring a beer over his head as a joke because Joe couldn't hit the target with the rifle the father had just given him. Very traumatic. No point in torturing myself to get through an entire season of this. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/25 Full Review James K Phenomenal show! Fantastic story and acting, highly recommended! 👏 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/04/25 Full Review The Official D Joe Pickett on Paramount+ feels like it’s mostly just a series of recaps. The way the show handles Joe’s PTSD seems more like filler than anything meaningful. It’s brought up excessively without adding much depth to his character or pushing the plot forward. I was hoping for a more nuanced exploration of his trauma, but instead, it feels like they rely on it too much without giving it real weight. It ends up making the show feel repetitive and shallow. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review Melissa L Die-hard Joe PIckett fans might complain, but books usually don't translate directly to the screen without adaption. My husband and I have listened to most of the books and went in to watching the show quite skeptical. But we love it. The show is so well cast. We keep saying "wow, Joe is so well cast, Marybeth is so well cast!" It is such a shame it isn't renewed for a third season - there was a HUGE opportunity to create a franchise series. The storylines are engaging and thrilling, heartwarming and of course beautiful in filming location. The only disappointment is knowing it all ends so soon. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/24/24 Full Review Audience Member I wish I had just listened to the audiobooks and merely read the screenplay. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/24 Full Review Read all reviews
