Set in Texas, an animated series follows the life of propane salesman Hank Hill, who lives with his substitute-teacher wife Peggy, wannabe comedian son Bobby, and deadbeat niece Luanne. Hank has strikingly stereotypical views about God and country but is unpretentious and sees the world simply.

Tim Goodman San Francisco Chronicle "King of the Hill" has always been refreshingly different and, if the season opening episode is any indication, it's off to a superb year. Aug 28, 2019 Full Review Carina Chocano Entertainment Weekly What makes "King" so deceptively subversive is that it subtly takes apart TV's nuclear-family archetypes that we have come to accept as real, slyly exposing the liberal pieties underneath them. Rated: B+ Aug 27, 2019 Full Review David Bianculli New York Daily News Now seven years old, this animated sitcom about conservative Texas patriarch Hank Hill and his family still has edge, and still has heart. Audience Member A slightly diminished season for King of the Hill, as this was the first one where co-creators Greg Daniels and Mike Judge became less involved. There's less continuity in this year, nor is as sharp a social satire, and Pigmalion might be one of the weakest episodes of the series. That said, a lesser season of King of the Hill is still something to cherish, and there are plenty of great episodes in this bunch! Characters like Luanne and Bill get several greats episodes this season (previously years arguably had Dale and Bobby steal their spotlight), and all-in-all the show presented very little semblance of running on fumes. King of the Hill arguably never jumped the shark, but it certainly didn't seven years in. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
