Based on the crime-novel series by author Caroline Graham, "Midsomer Murders" follows the efforts of Detective Chief Inspector John Barnaby to solve crimes that occur in the wealthy, isolated English county of Midsomer, a picturesque and peaceful place on the outside but one filled with amoral and snobbish eccentrics with all kinds of vices. His latest assistant is Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter. DCI Barnaby took over in series 14, replacing his older cousin, Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby, who retired.

Carol Midgley Times (UK) Still, it’s nice to see this comically gruesome show return, even though this was one of its more rambling plots and involved more prosaic murder methods... Rated: 4/5 May 14, 2024 Full Review Benji Wilson Daily Telegraph (UK) Midsomer Murders plods its way through soused peat-bogs of plot at an infuriatingly slow pace, and, yes, two hours of it does feel a little bit like listening to Alexa reading you Proust. John S Couple of the worst episodes in Midsomers history. Drag queens that true drag queens would find embarrassing. A green village with the worst token Texan ever to grace the small screen. Lift your game Midsomer. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review StephenPaul C The greatest 6 episodes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/03/23 Full Review Andrew S The last couple seasons have felt a little uninspired. Not quirky or weird, just formulaic. Where's the gore, over the top characters, witty quips, etc? The writers and producers should re-watch the first six seasons of the series and take notes on them -- almost all viewers agree that they're the best seasons of the show.
