What to Know

Critics Consensus

Still getting great mileage from its marriage of the feminist and the frivolous, Minx's second season is smart, sexy, and fun.

Judy Berman TIME Magazine Season 2 improved upon Season 1, testing the characters in the crucible of success and complicating their relationship with the addition of a benefactor, played by the wonderful Elizabeth Perkins, whose motives may not be entirely pure. Jan 3, 2024 Full Review Rebecca Nicholson Guardian Ordinarily, when a show gives its characters exactly what they want, it starts to flounder, but Minx manages to keep it compelling, and moves lightly on its feet. Rated: 4/5 Sep 22, 2023 Full Review Matthew Gilbert Boston Globe The ensemble -- it’s almost a workplace comedy -- is well-defined, energetic, and amusing. Jul 25, 2023 Full Review Saloni Gajjar Mashable The show is more robust this time around, with stories that feel keenly relevant today despite its flashy ’70s setting. So, yes, it’s a strong sophomore run, proving that HBO Max was stupid to cancel it and Starz was smart to keep it going. Rated: B+ Dec 13, 2023 Full Review Chris Revelle Pajiba Minx serves up a delicious tea tray of glamorous clothes, high hair, and groovy vibes, but it also keeps the darker realities firmly in view. Sep 8, 2023 Full Review Audrey Fox Looper.com If Minx struggles a little bit in transitioning its underdog porn mag to the big time, it still offers up plenty of heart, classic 1970s showdowns, and yes, more prosthetic penises than you can shake a stick at. Audience Member Absolutely horrible show! Would never get a single positive review if female genitalia was shown like male genitalia is here. Sickening and sad so many women are seeking some sort of revenge against men by exploiting and degrading them. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/25 Full Review Gareth v The prudish will be blinded by the nudity, but what drives this show is clever writing and a cast of engaging characters. Season 2 builds the development of these characters, and it's shame we won't be able to see what's in store for them going forward. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Darryl A The production value is great, the story is pretty good, and the actors are good together. I liked both seasons, and wish more were coming, if just for the awesome setting and 70's vibe. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review Fern OMG! We watched two episodes and looked at each other in disbelief. To be making such exploitative rubbish these days beggars belief. We fortunately saw the movie "The Holdovers" shortly after and were able to remove the stench of this dross. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review Fany A very unconvincing depiction of the 1970s with male nudity obviously included for some sensationalism. If you are looking for an edgy comedy this is not it. Boring. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/16/23 Full Review Scott W Bad writing and in the wake of the me too movement; it's shocking that these pathetic shows still exist that are nothing more than extreme sexual exploitation for shock value. Don't waste your time on this; there are plenty of exceptional shows out there. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
