Told from the perspective of an unseen documentary filmmaker, the series offers an honest, often-hilarious perspective of family life. Parents Phil and Claire yearn for an honest, open relationship with their three kids. But a daughter who is trying to grow up too fast, another who is too smart for her own good, and a rambunctious young son make it challenging. Claire's dad, Jay, and his Latina wife, Gloria, are raising two sons together, but people sometimes believe Jay to be Gloria's father. Jay's gay son, Mitchell, and his partner, Cameron, have adopted a little Asian girl, completing one big -- straight, gay, multicultural, traditional -- happy family.

Shirley Li Entertainment Weekly The show may have stumbled off of its Emmys throne last weekend, but it's still running on the same formula it's always run on. The family members support each other, even when things get out of hand. Sep 8, 2016 Full Review Matthew Gilbert Boston Globe Now, as the seventh season ends on Wednesday and an eighth has been ordered, Modern Family has graduated to another class: tired. May 17, 2016 Full Review Kyle Fowle AV Club Now in its seventh season, Modern Family is more than predictable, but predictability can also mean reliability. Rated: B Sep 24, 2015 Full Review Chandrima Pal Scroll.in The breezy writing is complemented by the excellent chemistry between the actors. May 24, 2017 Full Review Mark Trammell TV Equals All in all, a solid enough episode, I thought, and good harbinger that the show will retain the funny moving forward. Sep 24, 2015 Full Review Liz Estey TV Fanatic In Modern Family's earlier seasons it was refreshing because of its fast pace and witty jokes. Sadly the writing has suffered from the show's long-running success. Rated: 3/5 Sep 24, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Sharang L What a dip in quality. Absolutely no laughs all through the season. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/01/24 Full Review Kelis F A great show to watch and even rewatch. The comedy is great and the love of the family makes it heartwarming. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/24 Full Review Lasse L Some great episodes but mostly just okay background entertainment. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Audience Member This season probably has the show's best selection of episodes, but it also feels like the first time the show has had a couple missteps, anyway still great and its surprising how they have kept the writing so fresh for so long. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I love this series, never laughed so much. The old seasons even have a relatively modern humor for the fact that the series was released in 2009. Watched the first episode and knew I was going to watch all 250 episodes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member excellent series, with very good plot Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
