What to Know

Critics Consensus

Modern Love struggles in its second season, favoring romantic clichés over the more complicated truths that make its source material so appealing - still, there's no denying the allure of its talented cast, which might be enough for some viewers.

Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Perhaps best sampled by dipping in and out. Rated: 3/5 Oct 28, 2021 Full Review Ben Dowell Times (UK) Some were OK, but who knew a half-hour had the potential to drag so much? Aug 23, 2021 Full Review Ed Cumming Independent (UK) Series two isn't perfect... although it enjoys a higher hit rate than the first outing. Rated: 3/5 Aug 13, 2021 Full Review Michael Cuby them. Though “How Do You Remember Me?” takes the cake for my favorite installment, there is much to love across the second season’s eight episodes. Sep 26, 2022 Full Review Lissete Lanuza Sáenz Fangirlish After a very hard year, with very little in the way of physical contact, Modern Love Season 2 is the equivalent of a warm hug made TV show, and after all the solitude, it means so much more than it did before. Mar 20, 2022 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Season 2 of Modern Love is better than the first because Carney has decided to concentrate on more intimate stories, and not try to lean on huge names to get people's attention. Iga S I think this season is beautiful in a very different way. It looks up close into completely different shades of love. It doesn't always tell epic love stories but is a gathering of precious moments in life and love. Even though the first season was a bit more exciting, I think the second one was more intimate and down to earth. Only one episode felt a bit anticlimactic, but I admire how these are stories of regular people, and the last episode melted my heart completely <3 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/19/22 Full Review smiley w I'm shocked at how bad season two is compared to season one. Not even worth watching. Bad writing, bad casting, just bad. What a huge let down. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review tom m What I said for season 1 remains true. Very well done with some exceptional acting talent. Very poignant. I recommend. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely painful to get through, where the first season was very enjoyable. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Modern Love - S02 (TV 2021): Anthology series. Dramatizations of personal essays from NY Times about love stories. How people fall in and out of love. Story arcs are sometimes flat. Stories are watchable, even if afterwards, they are quickly forgotten. C+ Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Season 1 was absolutely amazing. Season 2 was complete garbage. I still finished it in hopes that there might be one good episode, but there really wasn't. There is nothing out there on TV like Season 1. Positivity, uplifting, happy feelings, a smile on my face. Every episode just leaves you craving more. All feelings that help us cope with what we are dealing with in life right now during these crazy times. I would assume the show gets canceled after this and I was literally counting down the days until Season 2 came out. What a disappointment!
