This often campy series centers on the office of Dr. Sean McNamara and Dr. Christian Troy, longtime friends who practice surgery (and live life) in two entirely different ways. Christian is the stereotypical self-destructive playboy. Sean is the family man facing a moral crossroads, as well as a failed marriage to Julia. Sounds grim, but a healthy dose of dark humor keeps things humming and contributes to the show's appeal with both viewers and critics. But be warned -- the depictions of surgery on this series are a tad graphic.

Charlie McCollum San Jose Mercury News The shift in setting has resulted in opening episodes that are so wickedly funny and energetic that Nip/Tuck seems like a whole new show - or at least one that has recaptured its past glory. Nov 13, 2018 Full Review Joe Reid The Atlantic Moving the action from Miami to Hollywood was actually a fun reinvention of the show. ...For a while. Nov 13, 2018 Full Review Ginia Bellafante New York Times For four seasons Nip/Tuck danced around the idea that sex creepily ought to stay within the province of family life's pre-existing perversions; now it is saying so more directly, and with home-baked fruitcake. Dec 18, 2007 Full Review Donna Rooney IGN Movies [Season Five] had a fair amount of bright spots serving as reminders of Nip/Tuck's capabilities as a drama scathingly examining the dark side of plastic surgery and human nature. Rated: 6.8/10 Nov 13, 2018 Full Review Ross Ruediger Bullz-Eye.com The show will never again scale the heights of its first two seasons, which were both as perfect as even the best fare you've seen on TV in the last ten years. And yet we keep watching. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 13, 2018 Full Review Kevin Carr 7M Pictures Revels in the shortcomings and dysfunction of its characters. You can't say that Sean and Christian don't necessarily deserve what they get because they are real scoundrels. There's a certain charm in watching bad things happen to them.
