This often campy series centers on the office of Dr. Sean McNamara and Dr. Christian Troy, longtime friends who practice surgery (and live life) in two entirely different ways. Christian is the stereotypical self-destructive playboy. Sean is the family man facing a moral crossroads, as well as a failed marriage to Julia. Sounds grim, but a healthy dose of dark humor keeps things humming and contributes to the show's appeal with both viewers and critics. But be warned -- the depictions of surgery on this series are a tad graphic.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Nip/Tuck wisely trains its focus on the relationship between the central duo of Christian and Sean during its final season, but this last hurrah often feels like an afterthought for a series that was left too long on the operating room table.

Lisa Schmeiser Bitch Media I don't think Nip/Tuck is going to be this profound every week. (For heaven's sake, this is a show that embraces mime crime.) But if you get a chance, watch "Lola Wlodkowski." Dec 23, 2020 Full Review Catherine McDonald Houston Chronicle All in all, good to see you again Drs. Troy and McNamara. I expect scandal, police interviews with the victims of Matt's crimes and their subtle digs at his poor execution of craft, and each patient crazier than the next. Nov 14, 2018 Full Review Margaret Lyons New York Magazine/Vulture Nip/Tuck did not end when it ought to have and instead dragged its sorry bones to L.A., where it crapped away all its story integrity and became both boring and redundant. Nov 13, 2018 Full Review Tom Gliatto People Magazine The show was cutting-edge in many ways: the operating-room gore, the tone (cool, chic nastiness) and a willingness -- often exasperating, often perversely impressive -- to go waaaay over the top. Nip didn't just jump the shark, it pole-vaulted it. Nov 14, 2018 Full Review Cindy White IGN Movies It's clear from watching these episodes that the show's better days are behind it. It's actually appropriate that Nip/Tuck should go out this way, considering it frequently explores the uphill struggle to maintain youth and vitality as time marches on. Rated: 6/10 Nov 13, 2018 Full Review Nick Venable CinemaBlend I don't know whether to scream with delight or cry... with delight. Nov 13, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
