This Steven Bochco-produced series pulls few punches in portraying the day-to-day lives of cops in New York's 15th Precinct. Characters' personal lives intertwine with the cases they work, which often deal with the worst elements the city has to offer. Many characters came and went during the show's 12-season run but one constant throughout the series was Det. Andy Sipowicz, portrayed by Dennis Franz.

John Carman San Francisco Chronicle NYPD Blue digs deep and delivers mightily. Aug 17, 2018 Full Review Ray Richmond Variety It almost sounds like a double-play combination: Caruso to Smits to Schroder. But early indications are that, at the very least, NYPD Blue hasn't done itself much harm by taking on the kid, who hits the ground sprinting like a pro. Aug 17, 2018 Full Review Caryn James New York Times This season N.Y.P.D. Blue has been as good as ever. Bobby's decline has added a tone of sadness and anxiety rare in a weekly series, and the show has come through with a new emotional depth and stylishness. Aug 15, 2018 Full Review Terry Kelleher People Magazine NYPD Blue still has its petty irritations, but with Bobby's death, the 15th precinct somehow seems revitalized.
