Ripper J @RJ2099 Feb 19 This was so effing boring. Every scene is drawn out and stretched to the point of absurdity. The characters are uninteresting, poorly written and portrayed like cardboard cutouts. It’s like a Jr High drama class put on a badly written soap. Slowly delivered lines and long pauses do not create drama or suspense and is boring AF to suffer through. I, and I think many people, have limited time to invest in entertainment and I’m not going to waste it watching some dull character stare off into space. Every moment needs to be about the story. Every moment should move the plot forward and/or develop the character. Time should not be wasted on nothingness. So much of what comes out of the modern "entertainment" industry is nothingness. Add to that all the narcissistic identity b.s. and it’s no wonder people hate many modern movies/shows. The production quality is great that may have been to its detriment. The original’s set was well put together but was not meant to awe so the filming was always close to the actors or in tight confines of an apartment, office, or house and made the audience feel they are in the room with action. Here viewers is at a distance so the viewer can witness the great sets but in so doing the viewers are distant from the action. The script pacing was too slow. There was too much build up to a not that dramatic conclusion. This season should have started in the middle of the story to capture the audience with a good hook. The background events could later be filled in with flash-backs to fill in the story gaps. I don’t regret watching but I wish it was better. I don't have any particular issues with the production or the acting, but the writing is so unbelievably lazy. The showrunner must have cut every corner. The characters constantly prove they're dumber than the audience. The immediate plot holes in the form of glossed-over HIPAA violations, unprepared assassins and unrealistic conversations all points to a disjointed writing team and a failure on every level to assemble a suspenseful story arc. I just couldn't keep it on after half an hour screaming at absurdity after absurdity. See more Christine H @RT88709558 Nov 25 First I want to say it this show is an insult to the original Orphan Black series. The acting and the writing were excellent. This version (can't call it a sequel) especially the story lacks zero tension, zero mystery and I have no compassion for any of the one-dimensional characters. The flashbacks are redundant because the writers already told us what's going on... we aren't stupid! References to Auntie Cosima, an appearance by Uncle Felix with the exact same bar scene it's just sooooo sad. Ripping off the music from the original is also an insult. I can't believe anyone thought this might have any entertainment value at all. WATCH THE ORIGINAL, don't bother with this thing. See more Read all reviews
