Allison Benedikt Slate I'm disappointed. I sobbed as expected, but it was corny. Feb 20, 2019 Full Review Christopher John Farley Wall Street Journal "Parenthood's" gift to viewers this year is struggle, uncertainty, and maybe a ray of hope. Feb 20, 2019 Full Review Frankie Mathieson Guardian The show's easy, free-flowing dialogue and unforced emotion add up to a poignant portrait of an imperfect family. Feb 15, 2019 Full Review Jocelyn W TV Equals I've never been a huge fan of Haddie but the choice to send her away to college coupled with her mother's devastating cancer diagnosis has helped the character a great deal and given another layer of authenticity to the show. Feb 20, 2019 Full Review Kelly West CinemaBlend Season 4 is off to a really good start, but also an emotional one. Feb 15, 2019 Full Review Tom Gliatto People Magazine They're all trying, with stammering earnestness, to stake their ground on thorny emotional issues...but as Lauren Graham and a large, excellent cast perfected the show's ensemble rhythm, it became endearing. Audience Member Saddest season so far. Truly heartbreaking. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I wrote a review for season 1, and I am half-way through watching season 4. At this point, I find the plot situations have grown a bit in interest. I rate seasons 1 to 3 fairly well anyway, and I have felt a gradual increase in the meaningfulness of the plot lines. Through the first three seasons, and so far in season 4, the outlines of relationship development between Crosby and Jasmine have been beautifully filled out and believable. Drew's first sexual relationship was gently portrayed. The breaking-out or maturing of the teens (Haddie, Amber, and Drew) is true to life. The dialogue is still weak, but the direction it takes us is enjoyable and engrossing. Whoever insisted on all the "Heys" and apologies in the dialogue is still getting their way, but I try to ignore those parts, and enjoy that which has intensity, beauty, sadness, and joy.
