Britain is a mixture of despair and hedonism in 1919 in the aftermath of the Great War. Returning soldiers, newly minted revolutions and criminal gangs are fighting for survival in a nation rocked by economic upheaval. One of the most powerful gangs of the time is the Peaky Blinders, run by returning war hero Thomas Shelby and his family. But Thomas has bigger ambitions than just running the streets. When a crate of guns goes missing, he recognizes an opportunity to advance in the world because crime may pay but legitimate business pays better. Trying to rid Britain of its crime is Inspector Chester Campbell, who arrives from Belfast to try to achieve that goal.

While Peaky Blinders's fifth season suffers somewhat from superficial characterization, it remains one of TVs most visually thrilling endeavors.

Scott Bryan BBC.com If you like Peaky Blinders already then yes, it's a must watch. If not ,give it a go, but don't start with this episode. Jul 15, 2020 Full Review James Jackson Times (UK) The show's style is so ludicrously over-the-top you have to surrender all cynicism as the Shelbys stride in slow-mo to Black Sabbath. So the longer you stick with it, the more the swagger becomes impossible to resist. Rated: 4/5 Oct 31, 2019 Full Review Pippa Bailey New Statesman Twenty nine episodes in, Peaky Blinders proves it can still pack a punch. Sep 26, 2019 Full Review Victor Pineyro Seventh Art Studio Peaky Blinders is The Godfather of television. It's an opera. Tommy Shelby is Cillian Murphy's life role. Season 5 delves into real history smoothly and incredibly. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 9/10 Jun 23, 2022 Full Review Graeme Tuckett The Post NZ It may be formulaic and occasionally repetitious, as Tommy encounters one fearsome foe after another... but I'll be amazed if the writers of Peaky Blinders can't sustain this likeable momentum for at least another season or two. Sep 14, 2020 Full Review Ciara Wardlow Film School Rejects Season 5 might not be Peaky Blinders' strongest, but it still does a bang-up job of leaving you properly hyped for Season 6, ending with a proper nail-biter of a cliffhanger. Ava S definitely slower than the previous seasons but HOLY CLIFFHANGER BRO I’m probably going to stall watching the last few episodes of the next season because I don’t want it to end, but then again I MUST KNOW WHO IT WAS Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/25 Full Review Dileepa R The quality of the writing and camera work started to slip. In this seasons compared to 1-4. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/23/24 Full Review Martin F The most stylish season up to now, with lots of beautiful shots, and wide landscape under a surprising punk rock score. Peaky Blinders keep the same flaw as usual, it's hard to keep up with the story evolving through ambiguous conversations but the finale is worth it as everything ends with an undeniable tension. It's becoming a little hard to like the Shelby members, Tommy is as great as ever but Arthur is frustrating, his immaturity made him the worse character and he barely paid for his mistakes, Polly is as great as ever but they tried too much to make her a strong woman by always making her have meaningful speeches about how hard life is. This season is a lot of "Look how cool they are". There is a whole scene where Tommy and Polly threaten nuns because they are mistreating children, it's a good reason to go against nuns but it's obviously just a reason to show how Tommy is so badass he doesn't care about nuns or the church, it feels too forced at the end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review Savannah G Intense for sure still great at storytelling. I'm really curious where else this show can go. Hope it doesn't keep running to ruin what they have already. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/01/24 Full Review Edward F So far this was the worst season. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/25/24 Full Review Audience Member By this stage, you are already invested in the characters and their stories. This season, like the others, is gritty and exciting.
