New York firefighter Tommy Gavin is a hot mess. He talks to his cousin, Jimmy, who died at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, and he's seeing ghosts of other victims, too. Spotlighting Denis Leary as Gavin, a temperamental alcoholic whose self-destructive behavior has cost him his family, the series revolves around the daily drama associated with being a firefighter in post-9/11 New York, and how the men of 62 Truck use dark humor to color their true feelings.

Heather Havrilesky Salon.com If there ever was a show that captured the learned helplessness of the American male, this show is it. Dec 12, 2018 Full Review David Hinckley New York Daily News The heat couldn't be more intense if you opened the front door on a four-alarm fire. Jun 29, 2010 Full Review Robert Bianco USA Today Times may be tough for Tommy, but for his show, things have seldom looked better. Rated: 4/4 Jun 29, 2010 Full Review Gil Kellerman Collider The show's signature comedic/dramatic tone is prominent as ever and what keeps Rescue Me so great is its undying fearlessness to take on any topic, no matter how taboo. Dec 12, 2018 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Rescue Me needs rescusing from itself and deliverance will soon come. Until then, fans of the series can enjoy the ride -- even if it sometimes feels like a rerun. Dec 12, 2018 Full Review Matt Roush TV Guide The comic relief we have come to rely on in the macho camaraderie has more of a tinge of gallows humor this season, which isn't to say that Rescue Me feels like a show on its last legs, more like it's nearing its natural end.
