Six months after deciding to pull herself together and get sober, Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar) witnesses a murder. Realizing her life is in danger and not trusting the FBI to protect her, she runs to her wealthy twin sister, Siobhan (Gellar in a dual role), in New York. Things start out well -- with the two patching up a fractured relationship -- when Siobhan suddenly goes missing. Bridget assumes her sister's identity, but soon learns that Siobhan's life is not as perfect as it looks and she is no safer than she was before.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Two Sarah Michelle Gellars make the dull Ringer worse rather than better, with mediocre suspense that turns silly and unbelievable.

John Griffiths Us Weekly Sarah Michelle Gellar's new drama truly deserves a bigger viewership. The tension is rich, the characters are intriguing -- especially the identical twins she plays -- and the actress uncannily brings both the women to distinct life. Rated: 3/5 Sep 14, 2017 Full Review Alan Sepinwall HitFix This will be an interesting proposition for the CW, which has so narrowly-defined both its programming and its audience that I'm not sure it's even possible for a show outside the Gossip Girl demo to find traction. Rated: C- Sep 13, 2011 Full Review Brian Lowry Variety Adopting a kitchen-sink approach, Ringer dumps out so many bread crumbs at the outset it's hard not to wonder where they might lead. Sep 13, 2011 Full Review Jessica Johnson Time Out Chicago Despite the incredibly beautiful cast, stunning clothes and high-class setting, Ringer struggles to escape the maudlin melancholy of its main character. Jul 2, 2018 Full Review Ellen Gray Philadelphia Daily News Halfway through tonight's pilot, I felt as if I'd seen this one before. Sep 13, 2011 Full Review Curt Wagner RedEye Even though we get twice as much Sarah in Ringer, she isn't half as interesting as Buffy was. Rated: 2/4 Sep 13, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

max f Best show ever. I can't understand how this got cancelled back in the day but nowadays crappy CW cheap shows still go on. One example of this is the discount Charmed reboot. Ew Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review steve d One of the greatest casts ever put together on TV for this? The story defies any kind of logic the characters are unlikable and it all plays out like a bad soap opera. Strong work from Gellar, Polaha,Colter, Dohring, Summers and Deutch all for nothing. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I really enjoyed this, so wasn't happy when they didn't renew it for Season 2! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Need more than one season Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Ringer's premise is hooking at first, with a pair of twins swapping identities, unaware the other is living the other's life and both on the run from criminals. However, Sarah Michelle Gellar isn't stand out in the title roles and frankly, the longer the season goes on, the sillier and more unbelievable the premise got. Ringer takes a great idea, throws in melodrama and then some. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
