Sabrina Spellman is a teenager with magical powers who comes from a long line of witches. Until going away to college, she lived with her wacky aunts, who would teach her to use her witchcraft wisely, and Salem, the talking black cat, who always has a scheme up his paw. As a high-school student, Sabrina is less judicious about using her powers than when she enters adulthood. The series is based on a 1960s comic-book series of the same name and an animated TV series that originally aired in the 1970s.

Ben Travers IndieWire That's a slight divergence from the comic book, and I'm sure someone out there has written better analyses on how "Sabrina" usurped stereotypes, but as far as meaningful adaptations go, this one is right up there for a lot of '90s kids. Jul 6, 2018 Full Review Renee Graham Boston Globe If ABC didn't already have a new comedy called "Clueless," it would have been an appropriate name for "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch." May 19, 2018 Full Review Ken Tucker Entertainment Weekly But where the Sabrina in the comics is a winky, slinky minx, the TV Sabrina is a more satisfyingly down-to-earth witch, a girl as anxious about peer pressure and curfews as she is comfortable with levitation and hexes. Rated: B May 18, 2018 Full Review Ellen Gray Philadelphia Daily News While the story lines and language make it one of the few prime-time network sitcoms that children can safely be left alone to watch, its sly humor and pop-culture references make it must viewing for many parents. Mar 24, 2021 Full Review Roger Holland PopMatters The writing is clever, the cast members hold their own, and Jenna Leigh Green is an absolute joy as the series' Plastic Heather. Rated: 7/10 May 18, 2018 Full Review Elaine Showalter People Magazine Clever writing and the delightful Melissa Joan Hart, formerly on Nickelodeon's Clarissa Explains It All, make this unlikely plot a high schooler's witch fulfillment. Sarah Caroline B Sabrina the Teenage Witch masterfully achieved the daunting task of reinventing a cherished classic, crafting it into a fresh and enduring gem. Amidst a constellation of celebrity cameos, the true star is Mr. Salem Saberhagen, a 500-year-old witch ensnared in a curious punishment. While Penn and Teller deliver standout minor performances, the yearning for more moments with the comedic dream team, Drell and Hilda, remains palpable. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/24/23 Full Review Audience Member 90's nostalgia sitcom with a teenage witch. I admit I am only watching this because I loved watching the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. If the CAOS is like going to the prom with the prom queen and sleeping with her, then this show is going by yourself and ending up with your hand. Not as satisfying but still gets the job done which is to entertain you. The tones are totally different and besides both being teenage witches with magic, they both almost have nothing else in common which I suppose is a good thing since you're not retreading the same stories and boy are the stories different. It's more interesting then Degrassi Junior High, so if you like that, then give this a go. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I love Sabrina The Teenage Witch because it follows the comics' personality of comedy and magic! I love this show so much! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Still reminds me of coming home after school. Great Sitcom, but the Last season was not my favourite. Sabrina should have stayed home.
