The animated series is not for children. In fact, its goal seems to be to offend as many as possible as it presents the adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. The show has taken on Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, politicians of every stripe and self-important celebrities. Oh, and Kenny is killed in many episodes.

Ryan McGee AV Club This wasn't on par with something like "Broadway Bro Down" by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a solid outing all the same. Rated: B+ Oct 4, 2013 Full Review Marcus Gilmer AV Club Not every show has to be some sort of searing public commentary; dumb jokes are just fine, thanks. But even with that expectation and the extended time off, it feels like the rust shows. Rated: C- Oct 4, 2013 Full Review Emily Estep We Got This Covered While it doesn't stand out as one of the bests, it hits all of the criteria for a South Park well-done. Oct 21, 2017 Full Review J.C. Maçek III PopMatters Season 17 isn't quite a perfect season (if there is such a thing), but the high quality moments and the near dearth of let-downs in these ten episodes prove that the creators of South Park are still in their prime (or, at least, on one of their upswings) Rated: 7/10 Oct 23, 2014 Full Review Max Nicholson IGN Movies While South Park normally excels at lampooning major hot-button issues like this, the season premiere just didn't quite follow through comedically, despite raising some good points. Rated: 6.7/10 Sep 26, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews

Jone L My top 3 season of SP Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/12/25 Full Review Enchanted M South Park season 17 finally reaches the point of a new trend put into place for a couple upcoming seasons by using serialization much more often. Season 17 is entertaining don't get me wrong and has some really strong episodes like how they created another trilogy called "The Black Friday Trilogy" which consists of some of the best episodes in the season. With the less episodes there are than previously, the season is still really strong and seemed to cut down on a lot of poorly written episodes like how in other seasons they have those types of episodes. It's up for debate whether serializing South Park more and more is a good idea but it sure worked for this season at least. Admittedly, the one actually bad episode is "Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers" but it doesn't actually bog down the rest of the season thankfully". Even though serialization has grown stronger with this season, South Park season 17 is still a fun and funny season that isn't worth missing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/27/23 Full Review Dionisis T A fairly short but very ridiculous and hilarious season in the series...it was well worth the time! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/23 Full Review Audience Member This show is wonderfully groundbreaking. Especially the black friday trilogy! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Great bounce back from last seasons low. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This season is awesome, great episodes like World War Zimmerman, Taming Strange, Ginger Cow, the Black Friday episode, and The Hobbit.
