Created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman for CBS All Access, the story of "Star Trek: Discovery" begins roughly a decade before Captain Kirk's five-year mission -- as portrayed in the original "Star Trek" from the 1960s -- and a century before the events of "Star Trek: Enterprise." The series follows the crew of the USS Discovery as they encounter new worlds and civilizations, delving into familiar themes and expanding upon an incident that has been talked about within the franchise's universe, but never fully explored.

Eric Deggans NPR This show has boldly tried re-inventing and updating Trek, and, after the first episode, it works. Nov 25, 2019 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) Star Trek doesn't leave any gaps. Nor, I expect, will it. We will see the aliens, see the distant worlds. Nothing will be figurative, nothing will be implied, there will be no endless, unseen mystery about which to thrill. Dec 29, 2017 Full Review Alison Herman The Ringer Going into the second half of its season, Discovery has kinks to work out, but it's laid the all-important groundwork for a rich and tight-knit ensemble. Nov 14, 2017 Full Review Alan French Sunshine State Cineplex Far more emotional than other Trek shows, this is for those who wish to feel the big earnest emotion of a sci-fi epic while still peppering in enough moral quandaries to keep us engaged. Rated: 7/10 Feb 17, 2024 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies Following the first two episodes, Star Trek: Discovery gets off and running with a series that truly feels cinematic. Rated: 4/5 Apr 24, 2022 Full Review Tony Black Cultural Conversation Star Trek: Discovery enjoys a fascinating first season, both in the context of its place in the television landscape and the historic Trek franchise as a whole. kyle s They forced their bullshit ideas on a show that was fine....make your own thing or add on....don't force your bullshit story onto an old idea. you took a chain saw to something good....fuck...i have a feeling this show is only going to get worse. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/25 Full Review meaux c I liked it. It's a different POV. I do have issues with the tech seeimg to advanced compared to TOS but its fun. Does tend to lean emo, but star trek in general can do that. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/25 Full Review Dominic T Utter Garbage - Spock's Sister , lol . And She is better then any Marvel Character - Over Woke Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/30/25 Full Review Steven B This should have been in its own thing like Babylon 5, Farscape, Dark Matter, anything but Star Trek. If the screen writers and director have ever watch anything about Gene it did not show. It comes off more like who cares we will just make our own stuff up check a pc list that is completely pissing core and special interests movie goers off and terminating their services. Discovery is horrible in the Star Trek univers. If was its own thing there are ideas that could put it up to 3 starts just burn every forced Star Trek reference. I did cancel my paramount subscription because this is such a tortured bent and forced... garbage. Good thing for Paramount Strange New Worlds got me back. Unlike Netflix and Disney who have been permanently removed from all my devices. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/25 Full Review med s First season was fun to watch, with plenty of twists. The idea of a rogue Star trek officer was different from the typical Star trek story. Too bad for the series, season three four and five became too woke, and then the series became unbearable to watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/25 Full Review John S dreadful, all the characters are unlikable and horrible, and the plot is awful. This struggles to be background noise because even if you half concentrate, it will upset you. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/19/24 Full Review Read all reviews
