Created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman for CBS All Access, the story of "Star Trek: Discovery" begins roughly a decade before Captain Kirk's five-year mission -- as portrayed in the original "Star Trek" from the 1960s -- and a century before the events of "Star Trek: Enterprise." The series follows the crew of the USS Discovery as they encounter new worlds and civilizations, delving into familiar themes and expanding upon an incident that has been talked about within the franchise's universe, but never fully explored.

Zack Handlen AV Club Discovery has saved the universe multiple times. Can't they just, I dunno, fly around and hang out for a while? Rated: B- Dec 1, 2021 Full Review Christian Blauvelt IndieWire If depth of character -- other than Burnham -- is still sorely missing from Discovery, at least there's a lot of dazzle to feast on. Rated: B Nov 18, 2021 Full Review Iain Robertson Starburst The problem with formulas though is that they tend to become stale, and Discovery’s fourth season is a case in point. Rated: 2/5 Jan 3, 2023 Full Review Bill Brioux Brioux.tv Discovery seems to be boldly going on an action-adventure path not unlike the original Star Trek, times many more millions spent each episode. Aug 30, 2022 Full Review Jessie Gender Jessie Gender YouTube Channel It’s not perfect, but it constantly strives to be more than it is… and as always… the effort yields its rewards. Tyrone C Going into this, its easy to feel like a battered housewife if you're a fan of real star trek. It's hard to watch this without a drink or two nearby. Calling a friend after, and reminiscing about when the show was good (decades ago.. oh god..). I am shocked to find out that this is just like the first 3 seasons in that it was written by an emotional highschooler. They could at least TRY listening to the fans that off critique about the show as opposed to blaming the declining viewership and "hate" on them. No accountability. And the politics are even more shoved in your face this season (somehow). Have fun wasting your life away. Remember this on your deathbed. You could have been doing something way more engaging with your life. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/01/25 Full Review kyle s This whole show is trash....the multiple camera angle is jarring .... STOP! every moment is high drama! when some one has to go to the bathroom ....high drama.....the face acting is over the top. BAD... SOOOOO BAD! why do they keep making more of these seasons. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Yusuf M Watching STD feels like having STD. Absolute and unimaginable pain and torture. This piece of c. does not deserve to bear Star Trek name Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/25 Full Review Shaun H Pretty Good Show Despite what some of the more whiney comments say I’ve enjoyed a fresh Trek. Many complain it’s not like the original and I say good. New iterations of shows shouldn’t be the exact same. I know there are many fans who feel betrayed but in reality these new shows aren’t meant for the old fans only but to bring in new fans and you can’t do that with terribly choreographed fights scenes from the past. As for those who complain about the political stuff science fiction by design talks about what’s going on in our world in a science fiction world. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/25 Full Review Arkadiusz K Absolutely the worst of any Star Trek series Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/25 Full Review George A The definition of insanity is repeating the same actions over and over, hoping for a different result. And so it is with my watching this show. I have however broken the cycle as I got halfway through the season and just stopped. It has nothing to do with Star Trek and never really did. I feel sorry for people whose only experience of Star Trek is this show. Go back to the original series or the next generation and watch those. This is garbage as were all the previous seasons. My good will is burnt out here. It is just bad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews
