The first few are episodes just like any series are just about building characters. By the time you see where Richard Dean Anderson takes the series especially by season 4 you would change your mind. I hate when critics only watch one episode and judge the whole series by that one episode. "Hard-core fans of the movie may be impressed, but first-time visitors to the Stargate probably won't be. The TV pilot, like the theatrical film, is long on hardware and gunplay and short on logic." David Bianculli - NY What I see here are people who live in NY but never watch SCI Fi. Clearly you only watched 2 episodes. Enough picking on these superficial critics. Here's my review: Stargate SG-1 is unequivocally one of the best sci-fi series ever created. While it takes a bit of time to get started, by the time you reach Season 1 Episode 8, you'll begin to see the show's direction. Memorable lines like 'The very young do not always do what they are told' -- Antaeus, The Nox, this one line is quoted many times in the series run later. It's apparent that show runners Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner have a well-thought-out plan for all the characters. You'll appreciate the humorous banter from Richard Dean Anderson and revel in the sci-fi elements and technobabble. The early 2000s were a golden age for sci-fi enthusiasts with the SCI-FI channel's Friday night lineup of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica. I look back fondly on those years and the time spent with friends and family. You'll experience the same if you watch this show with your family today. I cannot recommend a better TV series. Here are some crucial episodes to watch: 'The Nox' (Season 1, Episode 8) 'Thor's Hammer' (Season 1, Episode 10) 'Thor's Chariot' (Season 2, Episode 6) 'The Tok'ra, Part 1 and Part 2' (Season 2, Episodes 11 & 12) 'The Fifth Race' (Season 2, Episode 15) 'Meridian' (Season 5, Episode 21) Honestly, this list could go on and on. While there are some recap episodes, I guarantee that if you watch the series in its entirety, you'll be left wanting more and hoping that Amazon, which now owns the rights to Stargate, will create a new series set in Brad Wright's Stargate universe.
