What to Know

Critics Consensus

Stranger Things' slow-building sophomore season balances moments of humor and a nostalgic sweetness against a growing horror that's all the more effective thanks to the show's full-bodied characters and evocative tone.

Michael Idato Sydney Morning Herald The second season steps up the pace gently, without losing its firm grip on the very specifically dated narrative speed of the first season. Dec 29, 2017 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) I've no idea where it's going, but that's hardly surprising because I've also no real idea where it went. I'll watch it all. Probably, so will you. Nov 13, 2017 Full Review Randall Colburn AV Club How many other shows about alternate dimensions and Dungeons & Dragons monsters operate with such emotional subtlety? Haters to the left. Nov 10, 2017 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies A good follow-up season that may not live up to enormous strengths of the first, but does enough to keep us interested and excited for what comes next. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 19, 2022 Full Review Nathan Mattise Ars Technica The end of Stranger Things S2 slays whatever early-season nitpicks existed. Jul 28, 2021 Full Review Kelechi Ehenulo Confessions From A Geek Mind This was a near perfect season and Stranger Things will only get bigger...and stranger. Steve W Not as good as season 1 but still a solid and scary ride for teens and adults to enjoy! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/05/25 Full Review Marsh X Great second season with the introduction to demodogs which are essentially the prepubescent form of the demogorgon, we are also introduced to the mind flayer that possesses people’s bodies and gives them superhuman abilities, the mindflayer is the root to all of the upsidedown, basically the mastermind. Those are the key things I remember from this season and it was all very exciting so another 10/10 season for me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/29/25 Full Review Collin C Not as good as the original, but still good Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/26/25 Full Review PepeWicho N En lo personal la mejor temporada y la más infravalorada, una trama mas cruda y seria donde el villano si se siente amenazador y donde de verdad se siente una gran amenaza Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/25 Full Review Paul S I didn't like it as much as the first season, but it was still really compelling and fun to watch. I definitely recommend it for sci-fi and horror fans! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/07/25 Full Review Ava S that last episode was peak television so far Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/25 Full Review Read all reviews
