This U.S. adaptation -- set at a paper company based in Scranton, Pa. -- has a similar documentary style to that of the Ricky Gervais-led British original. It features the Dunder-Mifflin staff, which includes characters based on roles in the British show -- and, quite possibly, people with whom you work in your office. There's Jim, the likable employee who's a bit of an every man. Jim has a thing for receptionist-turned-sales-rep Pam -- because office romances are always a good idea! There's also Dwight, the co-worker who is successful but devoid of social skills and common sense.

Karsten K One of the beautiful things about early 21st century sitcoms is the ability of characters development. Michael and Jan, Dwight and Angela Jim and Pam all with spotlights in great character development. This led to the audience understanding more about the characters and their relations compared to that of season 1. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review Captain C Most 40 min. Long episodes are way too long and stretched. I had a big issue with that. But the 10 other episodes were good as usual. Goodbye Toby was a good save to show that 40 mins long episode can be good for the office. But the first 4 were lazy…!
