Amir A This might be the worst show i've ever watched. The premise is there but it was so poorly executed that I'm surprised this was ever green-lighted. The cinematography, acting, and pacing were absolutely atrocious. It seems as though the show leaned on the space/scifi material to carry the show. In reality, each episode dragged on with maybe one or two decent scenes in each. There were many awkward and wonky situations that made it obvious that the writing was either lazy or maybe even written by AI. Very generic scenes and acting stitched together. I don't know if this is in any way representative of German television but it simply gives German media a bad reputation. I literally can't think of a worse show. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Wiley C This show was a touching look at family life, a horrendous sci-fi movie, and a whodunit so poorly written it made me want to punch babies, all rolled into a cozy five fucking hours of my life that I'll never see again. After watching this I think I'm supposed to wish I was a better German or a not awful Indian, which is weird because I'm none of those things. It brings up horrendously emotional topics and treats them like a dumb cat that caught a smart mouse. Fuck this show right in its feelings. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Eric K So boring we put the show on pause to answer the door and forgot we were even watching it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review Mela P I said WTF so many times I could have made it a drinking game. Nothing makes sense. Why the widower gets harassed is a mystery to me. The daughter is missing a few IQ points. A mentally ill person gets sent to space. Do yourself a favour and skip this one. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Jason S Oh boy. This is the kind of show you keep watching as you wait for the mystery to unravel and a big, final payoff. Ultimately, the mystery here isn't all that interesting, and there is almost no payoff at all. Well, there's a payoff, but it's more philosophical than impactful. I cannot recommend this show. Watch 3 Body Problem instead! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/24 Full Review Nowell M Really compelling, thoughtful science fiction, not your usual, dumbed-down, linear American stuff full of pointless firefights, explosions, and oversimplified good-guy narratives. To enjoy this, you have to be able to grasp complexity and have a decent attention span. Worth it despite the Evil Arab cliché. Jenny Nixon Common Sense Media The father-daughter relationship is especially well done, with Yuna Bennett doing a standout job as the tenacious Charlie. Mar 27, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider The Signal does a good job of splitting its story into two storylines that are well-defined, bringing the viewer along on the show’s central mystery in a way that keeps them interested without jerking them around. Mar 12, 2024 Full Review Jonathon Wilson Ready Steady Cut Most of these questions don’t have satisfactory answers, and the scant runtime shows its weaknesses by stripping peripheral characters of depth and making their motivations hazy. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 9, 2024 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) While the special effects weren’t always great and some character areas are lacking in development or motive, the intrigue and conspiracies work, building an engaging thriller. Rated: 4/5 Mar 8, 2024 Full Review Elijah Gonzalez Paste Magazine Over its short four-episode runtime, it delivers conspiracy-laden thrills and builds out relatively affecting relationships between the family at the center of this tale, but unfortunately, the answers to its big questions end up feeling anticlimactic.
