      Season 1 – The Simpsons

      1989 Holiday Comedy Animation List
100% 18 Reviews Tomatometer 87% 250+ Ratings Audience Score This long-running animated comedy focuses on the eponymous family in the town of Springfield in an unnamed U.S. state. The head of the Simpson family, Homer, is not a typical family man. A nuclear-plant employee, he does his best to lead his family but often finds that they are leading him. The family includes loving, blue-haired matriarch Marge, troublemaking son Bart, overachieving daughter Lisa and baby Maggie. Other Springfield residents include the family's religious neighbor, Ned Flanders, family physician Dr. Hibbert, Moe the bartender and police chief Clancy Wiggum. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/07/23 Full Review David Jr C Esta serie meda mucha risa no dejaba de reír me puse a ver todas las temporadas y me seguí riendo todo el tiempo esta muy buena Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/18/23 Full Review Sarah Caroline B Offering a satirical perspective on life within the quintessential American nuclear family, this series is laden with astute writing that appeals to adults and delivers delightful humor to keep children engaged. A standout moment is the depiction of Lisa's melancholy in Season 1, and the poignant message that it's perfectly acceptable to embrace one's sadness, a sentiment that remains relevant even in the year 2023. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/20/23 Full Review Teddy B While this is a very rough and bare-boned season, it is still responsible for laying the groundwork for the series and is still enjoyable enough to view on its own. Very quickly does it separate itself from other animated series at the time by being noticeably uglier in comparison, this is no fault of the animation department, but some shots are still quite unusual both back then and now (although I much prefer and enjoy this art style over the modern style). Overall, a good enough first season that is arguably more entertaining in a historical context rather than a source of having a blast while watching it. Jul 5, 2018 Full Review Daniel Fierman Entertainment Weekly But "Simpsons" fans have long been more Comic Book Guy than Troy McClure - so quality be damned; for those of us among the obsessed, it's a must-have for archival purposes. (especially now that the old auto-conclusive plot formula seems so passé), but we will always have Springfield.
