Manhattan novelist Jonathan Eliot just can't seem to catch a break when it comes to finding the woman of his dreams, even with the help of his well-meaning married friends - studio engineer Sam Sloane and wife Trudy, and financial adviser Matt Parker and his chirpy wife, Janeane. Jonathan also gets advice from Manny, the long-married doorman of his apartment building.

John Carman San Francisco Chronicle It's the oddest thing. I liked watching [The Single Guy]... and realized later that I'd been short-changed on laughter. Jun 14, 2019 Full Review Tom Shales Washington Post Another of NBC's lame and shameless panderings to young adults... If The Single Guy gets an audience merely because of its placement on the schedule, it will be one of the most unworthy hits in recent TV history. Jun 14, 2019 Full Review Phil Gallo Variety No big yuks, but engaging dialogue, a focused premise and Jonathan Silverman's star-in-the-making presence give The Single Guy a jump on the competition. Jun 14, 2019 Full Review Tom Jicha South Florida Sun-Sentinel It's difficult to fail between Friends and Seinfeld, but The Single Guy could do it. It plays like a Friends rerun with a less likable cast. Jun 14, 2019 Full Review Scott D. Pierce Deseret News (Salt Lake City) It looks like it would be a funny show. It's got an attractive cast, a talented creator/executive producer in Brad Hall, and the style that's so reminiscent of shows like Friends and Seinfeld. But it isn't funny. And that's a major problem for a comedy. Jun 14, 2019 Full Review Judy Nichols Christian Science Monitor Silverman plays Johnny Elliot, whose closest friends have all tied the knot and now want to help him do the same. Johnny, of course, holds out -- leading to some funny moments that should make this show a success, given its desirable Thursday-night spot. Jun 14, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
