The studio/writers of the show apparently decided that their ideas were better than Andrzej Sapkowski’s and do whatever they wanted. This show quickly turned into GoT season 7, and it was their own doing. In my opinion, the only bright spot of this show is Henry Cavill as the Butcher of Blaviken.
