What to Know

Critics Consensus

Capably shouldered by Henry Cavill's gruff charm, The Witcher's plotty third season pays a fittingly fond farewell to this particular Geralt of Rivia.

Ed Power Daily Telegraph (UK) With wonderfully grimy production values, it never looks like you’re watching a bunch of cosplayers en route to Comic-Con. Yet for all those plusses, The Witcher struggles once more to tell a coherent story – even the subplots have subplots. Rated: 3/5 Jul 1, 2023 Full Review Clint Worthington RogerEbert.com There’s still plenty of that high-camp energy to get by—Cavill’s arched eyebrow and taciturn grunts, his chemistry with the scene-stealing Chalotra, Batey’s frazzled comic relief, and the big-budget creature brawls. Jun 30, 2023 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) The fantasy tropes here may all be generic, but they know it and wear a smirk. Jun 30, 2023 Full Review Derek Sante KSNV (Las Vegas) Great action and interesting storyline keep you engaged as we toss a coin to our witcher in hopes he'll stay. I give it a B+. Rated: B+ Nov 13, 2023 Full Review Melody McCune Geek Girl Authority Seeing Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri together like a family is lovely, even if it’s short-lived. Aug 24, 2023 Full Review Federica Bocco Winter is Coming Volume 1 starts and ends very strong, with a bit of meandering in between. While the season as a whole is easy to appreciate, some of the individual episodes tend to repeat themselves. Rated: 7 Aug 21, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Lucifer M The only saving grace is Henry Cavill, as well as supporting cast. I simply don’t understand why writers don’t just stick to the OG story…oh I get it! They want to feel like actual writers and come up with something themselves, instead of copy and pasting from the source material. The problem with that is they simply suck at creating anything new. Don’t get me wrong here, the show is visually stunning and the acting is top notch and all, but the actual story being told is just mediocre. Cinematography, editing, costume design, all phenomenal and does deserve praise but what matters the most they simply just dropped the ball. How is it continuing with such horrible feedback?! Usually Netflix cancels after two bad reviews despite high viewership and praise for a series. It’s like they do things backwards there. Netflix=Ultimate Trolls Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Seth B Hot garbage. Why can't writers stick to source material smh. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Gabriel F I should have read the reviews prior to watching this mess. Genuinely, spare your eyes. Go for a walk. Pick your toenails, go buy a hat. Just do anything else. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Mary G Worth a watch, even if unfamiliar with the game. It's nice to see a world where a young girl has so much power and it was good this season to get more background and understanding of Geralt. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/25 Full Review Pat M I thought season 1 was amazing, I'd give that a 9/10. season 2 was ok (6/10)...and I finally finished season 3 tonight and was very disappointed in the whole season (1/10). Boring, dull, too many pointless repetitive conversations that end up going nowhere. I had such high hopes after season 1 and it's a shame they screwed it up this badly. The 17% audience score highlights how all the "top critics" of this show who scored it a 79% are completely detached from reality and should never critically review any shows ever again Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/03/25 Full Review Audience Member Just plain trash, don't watch, avoid at all cost.
