By presenting "This Time" as live, Alan tries to keep proceedings ticking along; the show is a mix of consumer affairs, current affairs and drivel; striking the right tone would be hard even for a skilled presenter, pretty much impossible for him.

Lucy Mangan Guardian This Time brings Alan back, in all his glory and his tragedy, at just the right time. Rated: 5/5 Mar 7, 2019 Full Review Deborah Ross The Mail on Sunday (UK) The genius isn't in the gags as such, even though they are fine gags, as in the small details like the fact it took him slightly too long to walk across the studio to conduct an interview. Rated: 5/5 Mar 4, 2019 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) Only very occasionally...does it soar into unexpected places. Still, for a character that came along a quarter of a century ago and still isn't old, maybe fresh delights are a bit too much to ask. Mar 1, 2019 Full Review Nick Reilly NME (New Musical Express) ...while Steve Coogan's most famous creation has been seen in various guises ever since, This Time With Alan Partridge is among his finest outings to date. Rated: 5/5 Jun 23, 2021 Full Review Pat Stacey The Herald (Ireland) The television signal could have cut out six minutes from the end of Monday's episode of Steve Coogan's This Time with Alan Partridge and I'd still have spent the remainder of the evening grinning like an idiot. Rated: 5/5 Mar 20, 2019 Full Review Keith Watson Metro Newspaper (UK) There's a sharp skewering of disposable TV journalist going on here but the bottom line is that Coogan/Partridge understands that we all like a daft bit of schoolboy/girl humour. Audience Member Huge Alpha Papa fan, but this one was too ludicrous to generate any real tension. Turned it off. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member *This Review Was Supposed To Be Submitted On Series 2 But The Link Won't Work. Still Applies To Series 1 Though.* BBC Comedy Is seeming to be getting better and better and "This Time With Alan Partridge" is no different and has taken it's rightful place as my favourite Coogan series. BBC has been producing increasingly brilliant comedy over the past few years and has managed to deliver amazing series like "Ghosts" and "Cuckoo" and this is no different this quenches my comedy first with the classic Alan and Simon duo with some fresh characters I hope to see more of. I feel that the character (Partridge) has changed quite a bit since "I'm Alan Partridge" and it's good to see that development from local small radio to prime time and I can't wait to see many more series of "This Time". Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Always love partridge ,slow starter but the more you watch an episode the more you see and the funnier it gets, even though he's the kind of person you would hate in real life situations, you can't help being in his corner ,Jenny is also fantastic Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
