Howie B @Howie10 Jan 3 Every series of this wonderfully produced crime drama has been a winner. Brenda Blethyn and the entire cast over the years have been outstanding. The scripts have served the books (and some stories which weren't even in the books) very well. Joe or Aiden? Both were equally perfect as the side-kick to the grand detective. I’ll keep on watching repeats, and any new books from the author, as Vera lives on in print at least! See more Mike R. @mrcar64 Dec 20 Top-notch series. I wish that I kept going. The dynamic between Vera and David Leon’s character is one of the best on TV. Every episode is like watching a suspenseful movie. It’s also heartwarming and humorous at times. See more Endree V @RT39486489 01/12/2025 THE BEST CRIME DRAMA IN 40 YEARS - WELL WRITTEN, WELL ACTING, BUT BRENDA BLETHYN IS THE ICON OF VERA , IF YOU WACHT THIS SERIES FROM SEASON 1 TO SEASON 14 YOU HAVE TO FALL IN LOVE WITH HER CHARACTER - MULTIDIMENSIONAL . YOU CAN NOT TELL HER AGE IN HER CHARACTER SHE REPRESENT A PERSON WITH LOTS OF EXPERIENCE AND FRANKLY I KNOW WOMEN IN THERE LATE 50 THAT LOOK OLDER THAN HER. BRAVO TO THIS INTELLIGENT SERIES AND SPECIALLY TO HER. THIS SERIES IS NOT BORING AND IF YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE THAT LIKE CRIME DRAMA AND THINK IS NOT THAT GOOD SO THAN CONTINUE TO WATCH STUPID SERIES LIKE MURDER IN PARADISE ETC. THAT IS MADE FOR SIMPLETON LIKE YOU See more Lisa B @RT92153095 04/26/2024 I love this show. Certainly hope there ends up being a spin off. See more Per S @RT83737705 05/09/2022 What is it with these unrealistic feelgood Agatha Christie inspired crime tales, where a distracted lady ripe for retirement and with a worn out hat solves intricate murder cases that constantly seem to pop up in a rural district? The basic reason for the series Vera staying popular for more than ten seasons must be that it's broadcasted on television, where most of the viewers are mature women who like to identify with the main character. Excuse me, but yes, Brenda Blethyn is a solid actress, but her character's constructed Gordie accent, well it's not very well managed, and in the long run that voice is annoying.
