Maureen Ryan Chicago Tribune The strength of the script and Branagh's finely drawn performance - not to mention the excellent scenes between Branagh and David Warner, who plays Wallander's dad - make up for missteps. Rated: 3/4 Nov 30, 2008 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times What makes Wallander memorable in the end is the arc that underlies them -- the detective's own story as he plummets toward emotional and physical crisis. Nov 30, 2008 Full Review David Wiegand San Francisco Chronicle When a series has only two interesting things about it, and one of them is that it's set in Sweden, you may ask yourself, "What's the point?" Rated: 2/4 Nov 30, 2008 Full Review Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk It was all smoothly shot and constructed and skilfully played, yet I found myself a little less than enthralled. Robert S Kenneth Branagh is a wonderful actor but the script regarding his mental state is totally ridiculous. No one could possibly be so sensitive being a serving police officer. The two swedish versions are far superior to Wallander the mental cripple. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Lorraine G Wallander suicides more people than Hillary Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Branagh costars with Swedish landscapes, both urban and rural, at a pacing quicker than springtime grass growing in a breeze. This gives the viewer time to take in the muted angst of the title character. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Seems like a bit of a male fantasy i.e. oh boo hoo woe is me, my job is so stressful don't expect me to pay attention to my family, health or housework BOO HOO Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Could be the next great Mystery series since Monk and Columbo. I personally have a problem with the overtly British dialect, but if you can get over that, watch ASAP. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
