A look at the lives of four vampires who've lived together for hundreds of years on Staten Island. The self-appointed leader of the group is Nandor the Relentless, a warrior and conqueror from the Ottoman Empire. Then there's the British vampire Laszlo -- a bit of a rogue and a dandy and a fop, he might say. He's a lover of mischief and a soirée, but not as much as he loves seeing Nandor fail in every attempt. And then there's Nadja: the seductress, the temptress, the vampiric Bonnie to Laszlo's Clyde. Also cohabiting in the vampire household is Guillermo, Nandor's familiar; Colin Robinson, an energy vampire and day-walker of sorts -- he feasts on humans, but not on their blood.

Critics Consensus

Bat! What We Do In the Shadows loses no steam in a smashing second season that savvily expands its supernatural horizons while doubling down on the fast flying fun.

Wenlei Ma News.com.au Of course, it's on the nose, but it always manages to make the joke land. When it comes to pure pleasurable TV watching, you can't go past What We Do in the Shadows. Dec 14, 2020 Full Review Anita Singh Daily Telegraph (UK) It isn't laugh-out-loud comedy, but it's satisfyingly silly. Rated: 3/5 Dec 14, 2020 Full Review Allison Shoemaker RogerEbert.com If [the first season] was missing something in the age of binging, it was the kind of energy that compels you to just let that 'play next' feature keep a-rolling. That's not a problem anymore. They grow ever stronger, feeding off of all of us. Dec 14, 2020 Full Review Michael Cuby them. The series is only leaning into its absurdist tendencies even more this go-round, making for a stronger show that doesn’t sacrifice any of its inherent weirdness. Oct 3, 2022 Full Review Ralph Jones NME (New Musical Express) It's debatable whether the characters in What They Do In The Shadows emerge as believable people - or believable vampires, rather - and, after watching the first four episodes of the new season, we didn't find ourselves wanting to watch more. Rated: 3/5 Jul 8, 2021 Full Review Kshitij Rawat The Indian Express There is no reason What We Do in the Shadows should work more than one episode. But it does, and the second season is even better. The writing is absolutely phenomenal this time around as well. Jan 29, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Ms. S Even better than the first season! *What We Do in the Shadows* is delightful, silly, sassy, and really detail-oriented. The writing and the cast's delivery are so flawless that the show might seem oblivious to itself, but it is actually absolutely aware of its mastery. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/05/25 Full Review Craig B Absolutely fantastic tv show. It took the intriguing premise from the inferior movie and really developed the brilliant characters (of course, you can do this with 6 series more so than just the one movie). The whole cast are wonderful, with each character getting their time to shine in the spotlight. Witty and memorable stories with well thought out (and at times absolutely bonkers!) set pieces and character interactions. If you didn't go much on the original movie, it's worth giving this a go... you may be pleasantly surprised. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/25 Full Review Esra Y Still going strong and maybe even better than the first season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Early W This has to be one of the funniest seasons of any show I have watched in the past 20 years. It expands it's world and the jokes always seem to land. I have no critique of it other than you should really watch this season! Easily my favorite of the entire series. If you are binge watching it now just lower your expectations for the later seasons. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review Courtney M Genius! One of a kind. Hidden gem! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/02/24 Full Review RTowers T It's a show like the office but with vampires and jokes that make you laugh. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/11/24 Full Review Read all reviews
