Stephanie B It’s a thoroughly enjoyable series. Martin Clunes is his usual amazing self, and the rest of the cast is also doing such a great job. I watched this series twice, several years in between. Some episodes will make you cry, especially if you’re a parent. If you can get past Mary’s nastiness and terrible temper, you’re in for a binge worthy series. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/25 Full Review Jabba H I'm not going to review each season, because it would take too much time so I'll sum it up here. We started watching William and Mary because we're fans of Martin Clunes. The show starts off with lots of promise as Clunes plays a London undertaker who is a single dad with 2 young girls and a housekeeper. Mary is a single midwife with 2 boys. Both William and Mary are looking for dates with a dating service and the show starts with Mary suffering through terrible dates and demanding her money back. The service asks that she try one more bloke and tell her that after looking at all the other potential dates, he chose her and only her to go out with. The date doesn't go well, but with the title of the show kind of giving things away, they eventually fall in love and merge their families. Almost like a modern day Brady Bunch minus a couple of kids and Cousin Oliver. The first season is wonderful, the second not so bad, but the third season is absolutely horrible. The final season is what ruined things for me. The seasons are only 6 episodes long, so you could potentially binge the whole show in a day or a weekend. According to a miniscule amount of research, the show ended because the main writer, Mick Ford, didn't have any new ideas and wanted to leave. The rest of the cast didn't want to do the show without him so the whole thing folded up. It's sad, because there were lots of great characters and locations. Had the writing continued as good as it was in the first couple of seasons, it could have gone on to potentially be as good as Doc Martin. As a matter of fact, there are several Doc Martin actors that pop into the show and even some Ted Lasso characters as well. If you're like us and enjoy Martin Clunes, give it a watch, but if you're looking for a serial that you won't forget, I'd give this one a pass...again, mainly because the final season was so bad.
