For young Sheldon Cooper, it isn't easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naive Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. His father, George, is struggling to find his way as a high school football coach and as father to a boy he doesn't understand. Sheldon's mother, Mary, fiercely protects and nurtures her son. For 12 years on "The Big Bang Theory," audiences came to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. In "Young Sheldon," audiences get a chance to meet him in childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward and hopeful journey toward the man he will become. Jim Parsons, who plays the adult version of Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory," narrates.

Brian Lowry CNN.com The CBS comedy has seldom figured in the awards conversation, something that its emotionally wrenching yet satisfying series finale should remedy, but probably won’t. May 17, 2024 Full Review Ana Dumaraog Screen Rant After seven years, Sheldon's time in Texas is complete, but the special one-hour Young Sheldon finale is more than just the boy genius' story. Rated: 4/5 May 17, 2024 Full Review Emily Cappello Collider Young Sheldon continues to prove its brilliance as it prepares to wrap up the storylines of its now-beloved characters, all while proving why it has lasted, and excelled, for the past seven years. Rated: 8/10 Mar 19, 2024 Full Review Katie Doll CBR Young Sheldon is the pinnacle of a sitcom spinoff, even surpassing The Big Bang Theory with its polished comedy about a dysfunctional family. Feb 16, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Young Sheldon has been evolving into an ensemble family comedy for its entire run, but in its final season that goal is fully realized. And, with Armitage way past his “cute kid” stage, it’s come just in time. Feb 16, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member It's good. But it felt different than the last six seasons. Felt a little pushy and overused with the political jokes, but I liked the end of the season. Definitely cried with George's funeral. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review SkyRo P Honestly, this show is absolutely phenomenal! The first season is a total blast—it's filled with humor and keeps you hooked from start to finish. Each subsequent season just keeps elevating the experience, showcasing the characters' development and growth, which makes it impossible to look away and leaves you eager for what’s next. The parents are fantastic; they have a great comedic chemistry, although I have mixed feelings about Mary’s religious beliefs. Nevertheless, it fits well within the context of the show. Sheldon is hilarious, and Missy's wild personality adds to the fun, but Georgie truly steals the spotlight. He’s outrageously funny, and honestly, the standout character of the series is Grandma. She consistently brings humor and stability, and you could easily watch an entire show centered around her—it would be a hit! I wholeheartedly recommend binge-watching this series; it’s worth every minute. The first season does a great job establishing the characters and allowing viewers to connect with them as they evolve, with Sheldon emerging as the focal point of the franchise. As you dive into the second and third seasons, you’ll find more emphasis on the growth of the mom, dad, and the fantastic Grandma Annie. As the series progresses, you develop a genuine affection for Georgie. From the start, you’re drawn to him, but as the show unfolds, he becomes increasingly compelling. It’s interesting to see how, despite the title "Young Sheldon," Georgie ends up being the favorite character, which is why he got his own spin-off, "Georgie and Mandy." They wrapped up the series beautifully; I believe extending it further would have risked dragging it out unnecessarily. It’s refreshing to see Georgie’s story continue, as he’s the character fans were eager to follow by the end. I don’t mean to be harsh, but Sheldon’s character started to feel a bit stale after a while. There’s only so much you can do with him before it becomes repetitive. He served his purpose in building the show, but now he feels less essential, while Georgie's storyline is where the excitement lies. When Montana Jordan chose to keep portraying Georgie, he didn’t just reignite fan enthusiasm; he captivated a wider audience with his character. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/25 Full Review Audience Member This is by far the best Season of the Tv Show, the start of the season was full of good jokes and punchlines but the last 3 episodes were really hitting hard, especially the Episode of George coopers death and the last one, the last one was great written, it told us that the whole tv show young Sheldon relies on the writing of Sheldon Cooper not only is he a narrator the whole time but it was also nice to see that the whole show is just a story he tells from his childhood, incredible season and I probably gonna miss watching this show. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/25 Full Review Michael Antony A Mikey’s TV Review: Young Sheldon: Series 7 (Finale) Plenty of laughs, tissues and almost uncontrollable sobbing for Young Sheldon’s farewell… 😭 What a fabulous run this show has had over the last 7 years with barely a dud among the 141 episodes. Consistantly funny, good hearted and smartly written it surprisingly often left you with a warm fuzzy feeling. Created by Chuck Lorre (Two And A Half Men & The Big Bang Theory) and Steven Molaro its been fascinating to watch the Cooper family grow before our eyes. Especially the three kids, Iain Armitage as Sheldon, Montana Jordan as Georgie and Raegan Revord as Missy. It’s rare to find one let alone three naturally gifted young actors that don’t annoy but rather endear. It will be interesteing to see if they can transcend the curse often associated with child stars and make a successful transition into more adult roles. As good as the kids are, it’s the adults that make the make the show truly great for me. Aside from Jim Parsons’ witty narration and brilliant cameos from the likes of Wallace Shawn and Ed Begley Jr., it’s the core trio of Zoe Perry (Mary), Lance Barber (George Snr) and Annie Potts as ‘Mee-Maw’ Connie who skilfully lift otherwise standard archetype characters far above their expected clichés. Stylistically and emotionally very reminiscent of cult ‘80s/early ‘90s show ‘The Wonder Years’, it often touches upon the moral complications of life, love, acceptance and religion. Never preaching - the lack of a ‘laugh track’ is a heavenly bonus. Without exaggeration, it is quite possibly the best US sitcom of the last 10 years (Schitt’s Creek taking a close 2nd). And unlike its parent show ‘The Big Bang Theory’ (of which some prior knowledge is a plus but won’t affect your enjoyment one bit if you don’t) it never once ‘jumped the shark’ - despite its occasional lean into overt sentimentality and nostalgia. A fine slice of homely American pie. Only a cynic would disagree… Mikey’s TV Rating: 5/5* 🥰 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Eva B Heartbroken ending even though we all knew it was coming! The series is worth watching! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/08/24 Full Review James C Young Sheldon Season 7 perfectly balances heartfelt moments with laugh-out-loud comedy, leaving you crying and laughing at the same time.
