Ian Abrams was a writer and producer for television and feature films primarily in the 1990s. After graduating from Duke University in the 1970s, he relocated to Hollywood and worked for a time as a publicist before writing for television and film. He is probably best known for co-creating the CBS sitcom "Early Edition," starring Kyle Chandler as a man who receives the morning paper from one day in the future and uses his mysterious power to stop whatever front-page calamity may befall someone before it happens. The show lasted four seasons before being canceled. He is also the writer of "Undercover Blues," a 1993 screwball/espionage comedy starring Kathleen Turner and Dennis Quaid as two secret agents who take some time off to raise their daughter but find that the danger of their work doesn't always take a break. Abrams also wrote the television movie "Rolling Thunder." After working 20 years in the business, he left Hollywood in 1999 to teach screenwriting at Drexel University.
