Michel Lemire
Michel Lemire hails from French Canada and is the creative director of animation for CinéGroupe, an animation studio based in Montreal. He is best known by adult animation fans as the co-director of the über-violent "Heavy Metal 2000," a sequel to the cult favorite "Heavy Metal." But unlike the original movie, which was a series of different stories focused on sex, gore, and trippy fantastical sequences utilizing varying animation styles and linked by a wraparound story, the sequel was just one continuous story (which also featured a lot of violence). His other directing credits include the family shows "Spirou" and "The Little Flying Bears." Most of Lemire's work for CinéGroupe, however, has been as an executive producer. He has overseen several popular animated programs, predominately kids' programming, including the sci-fi-based "Galidor: Defenders of the Outer Dimension," which aired on Fox Kids in 2002; the science fiction comedy series "Tripping the Rift," which aired as 39 shorts on the Sci Fi Channel from 2004 to 2007; the wildly gross and juvenile "Mega Babies," about three alien-battling babies; and "The Lion of Oz," based on the 1995 book written by Roger S. Baum, "Oz" creator L. Frank Baum's great-grandson.
