Nina Blackwood
American actor and music journalist Nina Blackwood was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was one of the original MTV VJs, known for her recognizable voice. Her interest in music first began to show when Blackwood was still in high school, where she would sing and play the keyboards in a band. After graduating, she got some acting roles in film and television, like in the movie "Vice Squad" (1982). Still in the early 1980s, Blackwood joined the roster of MTV original video jockeys and went on to appear on several programs at the time, such as "Solid Gold" (Syndicated, 1980-88). She eventually transitioned to radio, hosting more than one show of her own, but would often return to television for specials like "Heavy: The Story of Metal" (VH1 Network, 2005-06) and "The '80s: The Decade That Made Us" (National Geographic, 2012-13).
