Writer and producer Robert C. Cooper got his start penning scripts for such B-movie thrillers as the Corey Haim-starring "Blown Away" (1992) and the Anna Nicole Smith-featuring "No Contest" (1994). After landing a gig as a story editor on the Canadian science-fiction series "Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal," Cooper parlayed his credentials into a position on the multiple-universe-spanning "Stargate SG-1." He gradually worked his way up the show's behind-the-scenes ladder, eventually earning the title of full-time writer. In scribing over 50 episodes of the series (and directing two), Cooper became responsible for hugely significant elements of the backstory and mythology, creating the race that built the Stargate and dreaming up a number of complex concepts that subsequently governed the laws of the franchise. The unassuming mastermind co-created the 2004-09 follow-up series "Stargate: Atlantis" and the ensuing "SGU Stargate Universe." He also co-wrote the straight-to-video Stargate films "Extinction," "Continuum, and "The Ark of Truth."
