Trieu Tran
Born in Vietnam, Trieu Tran's family left the country as refugees during the American conflict there, relocating briefly to Canada before settling in Boston, Massachusetts, where Tran was ultimately raised. He would go on to study theater at American University in Washington D.C., where he developed a love of Shakespeare and Sam Shepard, before embarking in an impressive career on stage. Tran notably appeared with George Takei in a production of "Equus" with the East West Players and later wrote and starred in a one-man autobiographical show titled "Uncle Ho to Uncle Sam." Around this same time, Tran also began breaking into film, appearing in a small role in the comedy "How High" (2001). Soon came an appearance in the genre-bending superhero film "Hancock" (2008) and in the action comedy "Tropic Thunder" (2008). Then in 2012, Tran joined the cast of the Aaron Sorkin series "The Newsroom" (HBO, 2012-2014), opening him up to a wider fanbase than ever before. For his next television project, Tran signed on to co-star on the sci-fi drama series "Altered Carbon" (Netflix, 2018-).
