Yves Vincent
Yves Vincent was born in France but grew up in Algeria, where he cultivated a love for both literature and the stage. Early on, he joined Comédie de Radio-Algérie, an Algerian theater company. In 1944, at the age of 23, he directed his first film, "Cairo." His career in film only skyrocketed from there. With his height and athletic good looks, he was well suited for acting, and he returned to France to become a movie actor. In the 1946 feature film "La Foire aux Chimeres," an expensive and elaborate production about a doomed love affair, Vincent appeared alongside the famed Erich von Stroheim, and his career seemed set. In fact, he ultimately appeared in some 70 films and TV shows. Despite a lengthy resume that includes such popular works as the 1952 Moroccan thriller "Capitaine Ardant," Vincent's career saw a decline in the early 1970s. He picked up fewer starring roles, and became the sidekick to Louis de Funés in such films as the popular 1969 family comedy "Hibernatus." He also appeared in a handful of corny soft-porn films, including Max Pécas's 1972 movie "Her and She and Him." Even so, Vincent never faded away, and he ended his career with a long-running role on the respected court-drama TV series "Tribunal."
