      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Pocahontas means well, and has moments of startling beauty, but it's largely a bland, uninspired effort, with uneven plotting and an unfortunate lack of fun.

Robert C Beautiful memorable songs. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/24/24 Full Review Luke R I've watched this when I was a kid, and it's not my kind of movie. It's extremely disrespectful to the Native Americans. Racism is bad, and the two main characters' facial expressions look weird. Also; Pocahontas was younger in real life, and the Colors of the wind song is kinda annoying. In conclusion, this is one of the worst Disney movies in existence. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review Daniel T Just listen to "Colors of the Wind" because that is the only thing worth watching. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Bri W This is one of the worst Disney films. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Tim B I was forced by my teacher to watch it in class, the problem was that we only watched it for 5 minutes and that's why I didn't understand anything, 2. Too many die from Gunshots but you never see blood senseless. Also, the ending sucks Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/24 Full Review Alex C a very bad and forgettable movie Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Gene Siskel Chicago Tribune The film may take you by surprise with its quick ending, running only 76 minutes before the credits roll. I wanted more both times I saw it. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 16, 2017 Full Review Laura Shapiro Newsweek Just about everything in this lavish, animated feature is for the pigtail set. Sep 2, 2008 Full Review David Hepworth Empire Magazine The story is clearly told, the effort is undeniable, but it doesn't stick with you like the classics. Rated: 3/5 Sep 2, 2008 Full Review Todd James Vue Weekly (Edmonton, Alberta) A disappointing effort to an audience accustomed to lush characters and brilliant animation on display in The Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast. Rated: 2/5 Mar 29, 2024 Full Review Carson Timar ButteredPopcorn While a conversation surrounding the morals of Pocahontas deserve attention and space, it is worth knowing that the film itself is also a rather weak outing for Disney. Jan 14, 2023 Full Review Kathi Maio Sojourner This is a real woman's life. And now, the cultural event that is a Disney blockbuster has coopted that life. Aug 15, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
