Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Warner Bros. usually didn’t pull many punches with its social dramas (I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang, Confessions of a Nazi Spy, etc.), but Storm Warning might be its most toothless in this vein. Rated: 2.5/4 May 24, 2023 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com This well acted melodrama, starring Ginger Rogers, Doris Day, and Ronald Reagan, depicts the KKK terror reign over a typical American small town. Rated: B Apr 30, 2012 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Good on spectacle but trivializes the serious subject of race hatred with an inadequate depiction of the KKK. Kevin M Wasn't expecting much but was surprised at how relevant this movie was even today as a commentary on mob rule. May democracy and the rule of law prevail. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/16/23 Full Review Aldo G This is a seriously under-appreciated film. Yes, Jack L. Warner was afraid of the material and therefore the evils of the KKK are under-played. But, no, that doesn't mean it's unworthy of your attention. The drama is real, the direction is excellent and Ginger Rogers is incomparable as a witness to a KKK killing, but is torn between her duty to testify and protect her sister whose Klansman husband is the perpetrator of the murder. Supporting cast delivers, although Doris Day's role is underwritten. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Steve D Ginger vs the Klan is nowhere near as good as it should be. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/23/23 Full Review David K Fascinating cast works well together in atypical roles. Doris Day's appearance led to Hitchcock deciding to use her in a future film. It was her first non-singing role. Ginger Rogers is outstanding and she doesn't even dance! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting Ku Klux Klan drama. Ginger Rogers visits her sister(Doris Day). She witnesses a Klan hit, and finds out that her sisters husband is guilty. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/02/21 Full Review Audience Member A real stinker. Oh, it's not that badly made but it has nothing to do with the South and completely avoids the issue it proports to address, racism. Imagine a film about the KKK with no black people in it. Who the hell is Steve Cochran? No wonder we never saw him in another film. And, by the way, who are the "professional" reviewers below? Whomever they are, they are clueless.
