If you count yourself as an ‘80s horror connoisseur, you won’t want to miss out on this movie. There was really nothing quite like it back then. Go to Full Review

Horror fan 4 5d A great mystery thrill with 2 terrific performances. Smith and McDowell are scary good. Tim Treakle See more Gary O 01/03/2025 Underrated film. Excellent dialogue. Probably the ending affected the reviews. But worth a watch. See more David W @Sternhammer 10/02/2023 Intreguing, unusual, stylised, well acted (especially by McDowell) and with an excellent denouement that will stay with you and make you reevaluate what you've seen. It won't appeal to everyone by its very nature but it thoroughly engaged me. A very indie watch in both script, production and sensibilities. A point to them.... See more 07/13/2013 1987 cat and mouse thriller between Malcolm McDowell, who surprisingly gives a solid performance, and his co-star who is better suited for television drama. Even after the explanation is given, there's just too many holes in the plot for me to enjoy this Twilight Zone rip off. But then again, fans of 'The Sixth Sense' didn't seem to care about the grand canyon sized hole in that films plot, so maybe it's just me thinking too much. This should have been an Oscar winning performance for McDowell. Her house and he's a killer, a con man that gains entry to the house.... or so it appears. A film that comes off a bit TV like in appearance, but even with a scarry night filled with storms and lightening, this woman comes off scared stiff, saying all sorts of paranoid things about him being a killer. This is one either really stupid woman or foreward man..... or a really stupid man and forward woman. The movie loses all credibility when she wants this man she doesn't know to stay forever! Pleeeeeeze. REVIEWS: 90% This is a lost treasure that I saw 20+ years ago. Never made it to DVD or streaming online, and even Amazon doesn't seem to have it on VHS. 70% Films involving mind games between a select group of players have always been a favorite of mine..... Never made it to DVD or streaming online, and even Amazon doesn't seem to have it on VHS. It's a two-person tour-de-force, with Malcolm McDowell turning in a mega-creepy performance as the stranger, whom we are soon led to believe is not a stranger, though we're not quite sure why. Madolyn Smith Osborne (whom I've never seen in anything else) also turns in a great performance, matching him move for move in a battle of wits that lasts the entire film. Nothing is as it seems, and the film is perfectly paced and atmospheric as hell. I really, really hope this comes to Netflix soon. 4.5 stars. See more Read all reviews
