In an age when we're supposed to finally be respecting each other's perspectives, it was hard to care about a heroine who arrives at someone's 'house' (ok it's a palace, which makes it even worse 🤦🏻♀️) starts handling the antiques as if they were hers, slaps people on the back, and eats with her hands in a house that doesn't, talks down to both parents as if they were friends and throughout the whole movie, acts like she's 'all that'. Never clicked with me , even as a comedy. The story is predictable, likely because this a remake of an old classic, but the film's message about letting people live their own life, only applied to her own free 'say anything to any one' lifestyle, not to the people she came to live with. It's all very pretty in the palace, beautiful scenery and decent acting, but the movie never had one moment of true feeling. Watch for the the hot-looking prince. A very good actor. But it wasn't enough for me.

A missed opportunity.
The rom/com nature of 'Khoobsurat' kills it, for me. Don't get me wrong, what is produced isn't anything all that bad... but it ain't enjoyable either, at least for me. There's sizeable potential in the premise, namely on the side of Shekhar & Nirmala's story.
Aamir Raza Husain and Ratna Pathak Shah are terrific in those aforementioned roles, there's so many possibilities with them. Instead, the film decides to head into the silly comedy realm instead of making use of a possibly strong narrative to create a very hearty production.
With that said, for what does happen it isn't terrible. As noted I couldn't enjoy it enough, but Sonam K Ahuja (Mili) and Fawad Khan (Vikram) do alright. There are few good scenes between them, but it's mostly forgettable unfortunately. The music is decent, "Naina" does stick out.
I can't say I'd recommend this, though you could do much worse I guess. I just would've loved a deeper story, especially with some pieces already in place for it to be so.

she's hired to help a Rajput king get better and wouldn't you know she has a spontaneous personality, funny because her mother views it as a bother when it comes to her dating life saying she should act like a proper lady
she's loud, giddy, upbeat, and sees her clients as more than just a job
this royal family is rule-based and has always thrived on discipline so they do see her as an oddball with her behavior and unusual character
the mother hardly approves and the daughter wants to follow her own path but is afraid to go against her wishes
the king's son Vikram is engaged to be married yet the more time she and he spend together the bigger their feelings become there also happens to be a tragedy in this family's past which explains why everyone is so socially distant so Mili decides to fix this and bring all of them close together again
Mili is such a energetic slice of fun to watch plus it has an affect on this royal family, the prince is really likable, too as he wants to make sure his father is taken care of but also open to the possibility of having fun
we have to stop living in the past, we can still live for our other children, we can all learn to laugh again even if we forget, we always say what's on our mind but only if it's what the other wants, all of our life decisions shouldn't be made for us
