Audience Member good doc from louis malle Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Louis Malle spent 10 days on Place de la Republique and filmed what he saw, interviewed who he met. In 1972, there's concern over the economy, sexual habits, and even more than one story of the Occupation (and how, in one woman's life, it still has a hold over her). Malle's documentaries are hands-down perfection – time capsules of "ordinary" people – and 'Place de la Republique' is never dull. It's like going back in time to survey everyday Paris dwellers, and in the process discovering their true personalities, sorrows, and dreams.
