Audience Member Contrived whodunit that works well for fans of the genre--Interesting, Creative Whodunit!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A superbly executed murder mystery, especially considering it was made for television. The film opens with a stage, and onto that stage walks alex (Robert Preston) He's depressed, because today is the one year anniversary of his Fiancee's Death. However, It's also the day he has a reading of his new play. So, he invites everyone who had been at his fiancee's party the night she died to read for him. However, things are not as they seem, and Alex suspects that one of the people there may have murdered his fiancee. He keeps the actors there against their will, and forces them to perform 5 scenes. Each one a possible motive for the murder. The suspense is heavy, and there is a highly paranoid atmosphere, as one doesn't know who to trust, there are quite a few plot twists, and it's one hell of a movie. Although the ending owes alot to the play "Acomplice", It's still a phenomonal film, with a great cast (Including a young Jeff Goldblum) , solid direction, and it's no wonder that it won an award for best original screenplay. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting storyline but seems quite dated watchingit in 2010 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member This was my favorite play to do in college. Some funny stuff. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member 5.5/10. Inspite of a great cast, the television origins of this film are clearly evident and it would have benefitted by an increase of activity in the editing room. Predictable, trite and not particularly suspenseful. This wannabe Agatha Christie just lacks the style needed to make it work. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Rehearsal for Murder *** With Robert Preston and Lynn Redgrave Directed by David Greene In a dark theater, a screenwriter brings together five members of his former theater troupe to supposedly rehearse a script he has written, but it is soon discovered he has actually brought them together to root out a murderer in their mist! An excellent cast does fine work in an intriguing whodunit with a surprising twist. Excellent writing (by the creators of "Columbo", so you know it's good) and acting bring this a notch above most TV movies.
