Nicolas M Tubi TV has expanded their movie selection but this is an older one, Im usually up for an unknown indy so figure to give it a shot, it was a surprisingly good considering the obvious lower budget of the movie. The acting is ok, some good parts some bad ones overall pretty good, avoiding spoilers the twist was good, I didnt see it coming, the cg ish blood is a turn off for me thankfully most of the kills feature practical which makes it more jarring when we see a cartoon pool of blood pop out of nowhere. The writing was uneven, an example is a scene where someone says "I picked you up at the hospital" but she wasn't picked up at the hospital, but after the middle it really picks up steam. Im in 100% agreement that the Laughing Mask himself is the star of the show, its cool to see a different character and his motivation, it was fresh and different. Its definitely not a slasher so if you're looking for him to go all Jason just stabbing folks its not the movie for you.. Overall pretty solid and hope to see more of this character soon. I wont be as nice as some of the reviewers with the rest of the cast because I can see the potential on this IP, I mean its a really cool character, the scenes that are his SOLO scenes are the highlight of the movie. The rest you're kinda killing time waiting for him to show up again.. The laugh track was distracting, its unnecessary, needed to be like muffled. The actors can borderline be called actors except for the laughing mask, Kate does the best with her range and Cordova was also solid but everyone else, replace them with a solid solid B cast and some cash an watch the cash roll.. Seriously, I caught this on Tubi and their originals are NOT impressive, they don't have anything this stylish or well polished. If They're trying to build their brand, man forget the crappy acting around it and make an original series. Rated 3.5/5 Stars •  Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Paulo A Super interesting villain, the music choices were inspired, costume and mask were top knotch really, especially for low budget. Some of the things that took me out of it fall with some of the other guys, some of the acting looked like they just grabbed some random people from the street and gave them a script. Kate's husband was like a piece of wood trying to be human, Jake was half the time decent, the other half overacting the crap out of it. the gore cuts out before it happens, which is better than trying to do gore without money but the director got lucky picking some solid leads with Kate and Cordova. Have you seen those horror movies that you know if they had the right amount of money they would've been a smash? This is one of them. Its a well crafted story with a superb looking villain stuck with budgetary restraints and shoddy casting. Every time I saw some of the weaker acting it made me think what an amazing job a blumhouse or something would be able to do by just injecting some budget into it. Its a great little horror movie and I love the premise and the killer, well directed and written, acting was all over the place, from good to solid with rivers and lee for example to really bad from some of the supporting cast. The star of the show is the main character and that I can say they hit the jackpot beginning to end. I was surprised this is from 2014 and I just saw it now so likely no sequels or anything, but felt we couldve had more. Rated 3.5/5 Stars •  Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/26/23 Full Review Max H I was surprised to see this on Vudu, the poster looked creepy but not recognizing the names I came to IMDb and saw a bunch of either really low or really high. Lows had complaints about the sleepiness even misogynistic while the highs all praised it and warned of the budget, my faço fit style of movies is low budget fare from the 1970s so I bough it and man, I didn't regret it. It seemed the director had ambitions of putting together something like "seven" or "along came the spider" but had the budget of attack of the killer tomatoes, so the will was there burn some of the scenes fell flat mostly due to working with non professional actors. Kate, Cordova are the most solid ones from the bunch, Jake hams it up and overacts quite a bit ina very soap opera way. The guy who plays wink was surprisingly solid although that fight scene was not the greatest Where this movie shines is in showing the Killer and the kills. Every time he's on screen you forget the budget and is immediately drawn into the story. There's one scene with him painting you just have to see.. very wel put together Third act falls apart s bit but the ending more than makes up for it with a cool twist i honestly didn't see it coming If you're fan of the low budget genre give this one a shot Rated 3.5/5 Stars •  Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/29/23 Full Review Alex M I recommend it to anyone looking for a good horror film but not too picky about the budget. I totally understand some of the comments out there if you're not aware of what you're getting into, but for a low budget film its totally worth the watch and compared to other similar films out there with the same budget I say this is on that top. This apparently been out for awhile and I just caught it on Tubi but did not regret it.
