Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com Van Damme may be famous enough that he can afford to continue noodling around with different roles and performance styles. But his fellow cast members deserve a lot better than We Die Young. Rated: 2/4 Mar 1, 2019 Full Review Danny Brogan Common Sense Media Brutal Van Damme film is heavy on violence, drugs, language. Rated: 2/5 Feb 7, 2020 Full Review John Stanford Owen Film Inquiry It aims to add social context to an otherwise hackneyed gangster film. The attempt is sincere, but given its reliance on random snapshots of extravagant suffering, that objective also goes belly up. Oct 2, 2019 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com "Young" provides Van Damme with a needed acting challenge, putting his natural screen presence to good use in a more socially-minded bruiser that's timed to tap into current national fears. william d Okay movie. You should only watch this movie once not more than that. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/07/23 Full Review Harvey G This was a terrible take on a story that's been done 100 timesā€¦ see Gran Torino. The romantic encounter between Van Damne and the girl didn't even make sense. The fact that an entire wedding in a house couldn't hear a massive shoot out going on in the front yard is ridiculous. The kid never even explains what happened, why didn't he just say the dick head started chasing him and the car blew up with the money in itā€¦ the whole story is so unbelievable any MS13, military vet or anyone for that matter will need new eyes from them rolling out of their head so hard. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/19/23 Full Review Joey P Laughable. This is a very unrealistic depiction of MS-13 in D.C. They could have at least really filmed it here. 4 million dollar budget? Lol. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/01/23 Full Review Theodore E I live in DCā€¦ well right near it anyway. I'm closer to the capital than that kid was in the movie, and I can say right now I've never seen a neighborhood ran by MS13. Maybe in small, very small pockets of pg county, but it's so ridiculous to imagine giant gang neighborhoods like that In the backyard of the FBI. It would have been more realistic as a mob movie, and even that would be absurd. On top of all that the movie was just soooooo unnecessarily violent and fake. When have that many cops, let alone feds, been involved in a gang massacre that big in the US. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Scallorado This movie is terrible. Do yourself a favor, don't watch it and call a family member and tell them how much you love them and to avoid this movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/24/22 Full Review Audience Member This movie could have been so much more. The premise was so good it was hard not to give it a chance. I have to say though there where times when van damme came into the movie and I was waiting for a one liner or an action scene where he takes out a few gang members and got nothing. The ending was like putting a bow on a hot mess. This one just left more to be desired Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews
