There's the seed of a strong series in Apples Never Fall thanks to its outstanding cast and intriguing hook, but those promising elements can't quite polish up a rote story.

Robert Z It is watchable, just keep your expectations low. Annette Bening never disappoints though even she is saddled with a bad script. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Kari M About half way through the first episode I was hooked! The twists and turns of the plot were surprising, and the development of the characters was very believable and relatable. I’ve lost both my parents over the past few years and I think that makes a difference how I perceive this show. Annette Bening and Sam Neill are fantastic in their roles as parents, husband and wife, and individuals. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/25/24 Full Review Cristina A Dialogue poor. Actors talk like untrained people and the whole premise and wrap up so bad. Waste of my time Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/25/24 Full Review David F I liked the suspense and the movement of the plot. After a couple episodes I was dying to know how the show ended. The ending was less dynamic than I was hoping for, but the acting was awesome and the show was all-around enjoyable Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/25/24 Full Review Audience Member Terrible acting. I expected Much More from Annette Benning. Predictable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/25/24 Full Review Chiena A Arguably one of the worst and most boring shows I have ever had the displeasure of watching. The ending is so stupid and ridiculous, that it renders everything utterly pointless. Mind you, the storyline was pretty much garbage from the start. Annette Bening gave a horribly pretentious performance, that screens “give me an Emmy”. She and the actors playing the two younger siblings are all horrible. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from “Apples Never Fall”. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) Another relatively generic family crime drama about upper-middle-class white people with secrets. And there are already heaps of those. Apr 1, 2024 Full Review Judy Berman TIME Magazine It’s a serviceable premise for a potboiler, despite the thin characters and trope-laden plot. But subpar storytelling robs Apples Never Fall of all suspense—or, really, any other form of enjoyment. Mar 15, 2024 Full Review Peter Travers ABC News The enduring star shine of Annette Bening as the matriarch of a dysfunctional tennis family, will keep you glued to this whodunit series, based on the bestseller by Liane Moriarty, even as the soapy script can’t resist the urge to do the trite thing. Mar 15, 2024 Full Review Eileen Jones The Jacobin Annette Bening’s fantastic performance can’t save an otherwise bland “whodunit” thriller. Apr 5, 2024 Full Review Susan Granger SSG Syndicate Seductively suspenseful - with another superb performance by Annette Bening. Rated: 7/10 Apr 3, 2024 Full Review Hannah Brown Jerusalem Post It’s all extremely well done and if you enjoy this kind of thing, you’ll get hooked. Mar 29, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews
