Accomplished actors Dianne Wiest and James Brolin star as the heads of a large, happy family, in which each member is approaching different milestones. Their eldest daughter, Heather (Betsy Brandt) and her husband consider having another child as they get closer to an empty nest; middle child Matt (Thomas Sadoski) thinks he has found true love; and the youngest of the three siblings, Greg (Colin Hanks) is overwhelmed after having his first child with his wife. Michael Starr New York Post Perky, well-written, charming alternative to ABC's long-in-the-tooth Modern Family. Life is back for its second season and doesn't miss a beat, with its likable ensemble cast in fine form. Oct 11, 2016 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Compared to this year's awful new CBS comedies, Life in Pieces is a gem as its second-season premiere proves. Ellie A if u like modern family or similar comedies u will love the family oriented experiences, but in a split into 4 -5 minute shorts about the “Short family “ Held up with a brilliant cast that bounce off each other so well and bring life, comedic energy and cohesion, the children are also extremely talented and funny and also play an amazing part of the shows comedic style, in my opinion, i love the various dynamics, struggles and victories easy episode brings, fun to watch and fun all seasons Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/25 Full Review Matt F Enjoy the family dynamic and stories that weave between 4 episodes. Identify with characters and the dynamics as an older parent and see myself here and there. Too many episodes lazily rely on the old plot of characters lying to people they supposedly love and how they navigate the lie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/25/24 Full Review Audience Member A worthwhile comedy that is a great alternative to ABC's Modern Family, which has gone down hill since season 3, Life in Pieces' four story setup is convenient for viewers and shows a very entertaining family dynamic, even if the storylines can sometimes be unusual or unrelatable. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Watered-down carbon copy of Modern Family with less interesting characters, actors. Nahhh!
