Paul M Thankfully, I didn't watch this on Quibi. I was able to watch it as one continuous film on Amazon and it was entertaining from beginning to end. All movie long Liam Hemsworth does a phenomenal job of keeping his audience invested and I loved routing for him. I couldn't even tell this had been stitched together, although the every hour on the hour set up is reminiscent of '24'. This is an ok film. It has a pretty good cast, most notably Waltz is a great maestro asshole. The set up is pretty standard fare for action-thrillers these days - a man needs money so agrees to be hunted, and the whole thing goes off about like you would expect. Where this show fails is in the writing. There is nothing new here to really hook us - he doesn't have a 'special set of skills' or doesn't particularly do anything clever to survive. Additionally, there are little moments that just fall flat - why does the protagonist almost never take stuff off his defeated adversaries like weapons, money, ID or tools? Or how are the adversaries always hours ahead of him, already in costume? Just dumb. In my opinion, Most Dangerous Game is much better as a full-length movie instead of short-format episodes. The production value looks great, but some of the special effects are low budget. The action is good most of the time, but there were a few moments where I thought, "Really? You expect me to believe that?" Some of the dialogue is cringey and cheesy, but that's mostly the writing's fault. The story goes a little off the rails in the last act, injecting unneeded background lore and a twist.
